Henna Aftercare Myths: What Actually Works?
Henna Aftercare Myths: What Works & What Doesnβt
Hey Henna Friends!
Henna aftercare is one of the biggest factors in achieving a rich, long-lasting stainβbut thereβs a lot of misinformation out there! Letβs separate fact from fiction so you can get the best results.
A Few Henna Aftercare Myths Debunked:
β Myth #1: βLemon Juice Makes Henna Darkerβ
β
Truth: Using a lemon-sugar sealer helps keep the paste on the skin longer but doesnβt directly darken the stain. A water sugar sealer will do just as good of a job. Keeping the henna on a good long time, a warm environment, and good care are what deepen the color. You can learn to make your own henna sealer here.
β Myth #2: βYou Must Leave the Paste on Overnightβ
β
Truth: Yes! This is true, but normally if you hit the 4 hour mark you can still expect good stain. Leaving it on longer is encouraged, but don't stress if you can't leave it on overnight.
β Myth #3: βWashing Henna Off with Water Is Fineβ
β
Truth: Water can weaken the developing stain. Instead, carefully pick off the dried paste. For stubborn bits, use a little bit of coconut or olive oil to remove the paste.
